Question 1

How many cars are for sale in Hawaii right now?

Accepted Answer

10,938 vehicles are currently advertised across 80 Hawaii dealerships: 8,173 on Oahu, 2,266 on Hawaii Island, 2,075 on Maui, 1,700 on Kauai. The average asking price is $35,897.

Question 2

Is it worth buying a car on another Hawaiian island?

Accepted Answer

Often yes. Young Brothers inter-island barge freight runs roughly $300 to $500 per car, which is usually less than the price gap between islands. Oahu carries about three times the inventory of any neighbour island.

Question 3

Does Search Hawaii Cars sell cars or charge fees?

Accepted Answer

No. It is an index, not a marketplace. Every listing links to the dealership’s own page, and we never broker a sale or take a fee from either side.

Question 4

How current are the prices?

Accepted Answer

Every dealer site is re-crawled twice a day and each listing carries the time it was last checked. This page reflects a crawl finished 2026-11-01T02:22:23.421Z. Prices are the dealer’s advertised asking price and exclude tax, registration and dealer fees.

Question 5

Can I get this data as an API?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is free. GET /api/listings accepts filters for island, make, model, price, year, mileage, body style, powertrain, drivetrain, transmission, colour, seating and condition. The full description is at /openapi.json.
